Bored With Your Conditioning?

There comes a time in our lives when we put our foot down, and decide we need to make a change. That could come in the form of getting a personal trainer, or a gym membership. It could also come in the form of buying some sweet new sneakers and starting to run for the first time in 20 years. Whatever it is, sometimes the same ol’ thing can become a bit stagnant. The beauty of having a personal trainer is that you never have to worry about the workouts becoming stagnant (if you have a good trainer who knows when to mix things up, or keep things fun and engaging).

But what about the folks who start to run again, and the want/desire to wake up before work, or get out after the kids have gone to bed and run? It can become a constant battle in your head, or feel like the devil on your one shoulder is telling you to stay in bed, while the angel is telling you to get off your ass and run. Some people have the ability to make a split second decision, get out of bed, get their shoes on, and get out of their house. Others, not so much. So what is the difference between running or even working out alone, compared to working out with a trainer, or even a spouse or a friend? It all boils down to two things:

  1. Community - there is a sense of being apart of something when you do it with others, and over time the work is a byproduct of the joy you feel from doing something difficult with a group of people

  2. Accountability - having a trainer, or someone waiting for you to join them on the journey is another piece of the puzzle that really forces us to get out of our own way and show up. People are counting on you, get up and move!

So how do we get those two things involved in a running or conditioning program if you are alone? That’s where hopefully we can step in. Infinity is working on putting together a Running Team.

The goal is pretty simple:

  • Try to meet once per month to run as a group (can easily do more!), as well as push one another by having a running program implemented into TrainHeroic. The goal is to train for potential future events like a 5k, 10k, maybe even a half marathon! But in doing so each person can hold one another accountable on their workouts, as well as make goals for each week for mileage, and hopefully overtime begin to run with each other on a consistent basis to keep everyone motivated and engaged.

If running is something you truly cannot stand, or you’ve gotten to a point where you don’t have the motivation to go at it alone anymore, let us know! We would love to get an idea of how many would be interested in being a part of this team, and hopefully we can all plan a few races and run together and absolutely crush as one unit.

Let us know if you are interested, and keep getting after it!
